Another Doctor's Visit

Chloe tends to be the perfect baby in front of other people...whenever we have visitors or whenever we see the doctor or whenever she's being observed by someone else.  Once she's alone with us, that's when her crying and fussiness starts!

Today, we went to our 3rd doctor's visit.  Chloe weighed in at 7 pounds 13 ounces and is 21.25 inches long!  She has a little problem with her umbilical cord that I'm a little worried about, but we have to wait to see if it becomes more serious (which makes me worry even more!).  We also talked to the doctor about Chloe's feeding issues and it just looks like we have to be patient and try different things...

I've noticed also that Chloe seems to be staring at things a little bit more now - not sure if it's actually happening, but she seems to be focusing in on things a little more.

We also transitioned to 2 bottles today and introduced a pacifier. I have to say, before Chloe came, I thought we'd try to avoid bottle feeding as much as possible and I was pretty determined not to use a pacifier. I also was very resistant to formula.  I wasn't exactly sure why I was so resistant - there were pros and cons presented and it was hard to make a decision on what to do when.  But I think one thing I learned after being a parent for a few weeks is that there is the textbook way of doing things and then there is what is practical and what works for each child.  As a parent, you obviously want the best for your child - but what is best is never clear.  You get advice from friends, families, doctors, lactation consultants, caretakers - and there is never one way that any parent or professional does things.   I guess a lot of times, I have to learn to go with my gut and try to understand Chloe more so that I can do the best for her.
